Warm up in Taos

Get cozy this fall or in the early winter in Taos with these cooler weather activities – from a relaxing soak in the hot springs to staying warm inside and out with a wine tasting!

Take a class

Head inside and do something different on your Taos getaway with an art or cooking class! Learn from the experts themselves and take home your unique souvenir or impress your friends and family with the delicious flavors of New Mexican cuisine at your next family dinner. Check out our top recommendations here.

Shop the CAV Annual Yuletide Arts and Crafts Fair

Your body will stay warm with all the walking and holding carrier bags as you shop the CAV Annual Yuletide Arts and Crafts Fair! Shopping the fair helps support Taos CAV (Community Against Violence) which assists families and those affected by domestic and sexual violence.

Explore forbidden art

Taos is a mecca for artists and art enthusiasts and Hotel La Fonda is the only place where you can see the “D.H. Lawrence Forbidden Art” collection! See these nine oil paintings that were once confiscated by police in 1929 for being too obscene for the time!

Hot Springs Spa

Take a dip in the hot springs

Let nature keep you toasty with a dip in one of the surrounding hot springs! You can opt for an adventure through rugged terrain with a dip at the end of a hike or visit the Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs for easier access to the springs – as well as access to a full-service spa!

Drive the Enchanted Circle

Turn on the heat in your car and take the beautiful drive along the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway! See forests, landmarks, and gorgeous New Mexico towns on this 84-mile loop.

Experience Taos’ history

Visit one of our many museums to learn about Taos’ historic and artistic past. Learn about the war hero and see antiques at the Kit Carson Home & Museum, see New Mexico themed art at the Harwood Museum of Art, or visit the Couse-Sharp Historic Site, a National Register of Historic Places landmark, to see where the Taos Society of Artists was founded.

Red wine

Go wine tasting or craft beer tasting

Taos isn’t just known for its colors in its art but also the variety of colors within its spirits! Visit our local wineries and breweries to sample white and red wines and dark and pale ales. Many also serve food or snacks to complement your beverage of choice.

Attend the 20th Annual Holiday Fiesta and the Lighting of Ledoux

On Saturday, December 2, visit the Millicent Rogers Museum for the 20th Annual Holiday Fiesta from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. where you can paint, make greeting cards, or tell Santa what you’re wanting for Christmas. Then, at 5 p.m. go to historic Ledoux Street to visit the open galleries, shops, and museums and enjoy festive treats and warm drinks!

Stay cozy with Bonfires on Bent Street

On Saturday, December 9, from 4 – 7 p.m., stay cozy by the bonfires, hear the carolers and watch in awe as the Aztec Dancers show off their skills. Be sure to sample the posole, green chile, and enchiladas too!

We have no doubts that you’ll stay nice and warm inside your room or suite at Hotel La Fonda de Taos, so start planning your fall or winter getaway now!
