MY CUP OF TEA MIGHT NOT BE YOURS First, we enjoyed our stay here. There are only 2 reasons to stay here: 1. You like old, historic buildings and the quirkiness they provide; 2. You like the location of being in the midst of a very old section of town and directly on the Plaza. We, fortunately, enjoy both reasons.
If you are expecting luxury, high class amenities, attention to every detail of comfort, this is not your place.
We had a 2 room "suite". However, the first room was strangely equipped with one tv, two uncomfortable chairs, a wet bar, a table with a coffee pot, and a Murphy bed.
The second room, the actual bedroom, had a very comfortable bed, a tv, 2 nightstands, and a table. The window looked out on the wall of the next-door building.
Our room was quiet and we had a wonderful, rest night.
The bathroom was small, but very clean. There were plenty of towels, but only one wash cloth.
Both rooms were very clean and actually did not smell old and musty like some buildings of this age do.
The desk clerk was polite and friendly. Check in was easy as well as parking.
Because of the time of year, I think, most of the shops on the Plaza closed at 4p.m.
The restaurants nearby stayed open later.
Old town Taos is like stepping into another time, very unique.
New Taos is modern. They even have a What-a-Burger!
If you like Western history, Native American history and Mexican-American history, this is a great place to visit.

Love the location on the Plaza. Plenty of food choices and shopping. Rooms are adequate staff is friendly and helpful. It is as described historic hotel. Don't expect luxury. It's comfortable and lived in. I would recommend. I feel grateful I was able to enjoy the history and arts just by walking out the front door.

With a broken heart, yet full of joy, nice bedding I went to a 1st cousins funeral. I grow up in Taos and never stayed at La Fonda. I enjoyed my stay, only thing there was no local channels from ABQ on the tv menu, so I went downtowns and have a few beers and enjoyed that. The owner of the restaurant did give me m condolence on my cousin passing away. A cousin died in October and I stayed at the Taos Inn, where they had better entertainment, yet La Fonda was also a treat to stay at.

We stayed there last night. It was okay. I couldn't get my wi-fi to work in our room and the front desk person wasn't really helpful. We were facing the Plaza, and the noise of the traffic and police cars was loud. It did quiet down some later on. I went to look at the display of DH Lawrence paintings and listened to the 10 minute audio about him. Kind of an odd guy but interesting. The room was clean and pleasant.
