With celebrations in town and in the mountains, it’s hard not to get excited about 2018 in Taos! On December 31, stay in the Historic Taos Plaza and celebrate with a pig roast, live music, a screening of the Times Square Countdown, and a dazzling fireworks display from 7:30 – 10 p.m. This is a family-friendly event and alcohol-free.
Another option is to head into the mountains and enjoy the torchlight parades and firework shows above the Taos area ski resorts. Events start at 6 p.m. at the resorts.

There’s also a fantastic self-guided walking tour of historic Taos that passes by 22 landmarks that you can do at your leisure and own pace.
Another option is to tour the Taos Pueblo. In early January, you can witness two Taos Pueblo ceremonies; the first on New Year’s Day with the Turtle Dance and the other on January 6 with the Deer or Buffalo Dance.
