A luxury penthouse on the top floor can be joined with other suites into a super-posh four-bedroom retreat.

New Mexico ATV Adventures

The scenic high desert that has long inspired poets and artists of Taos also makes for a thrilling day of off-road adventuring by ATV or jeep. Several companies that offer the guides and equipment for a tour of this beautiful landscape are located in Red River, New Mexico—less than 50 minutes from Hotel La Fonda by car. The way there forms part of the famed Enchanted Circle scenic byway, which you can complete on the way home from your ATV adventure for an extensive day’s tour of the Taos area!

After reaching Red River, the New Mexico Adventure CompanyRed River Offroad and Bobcat Pass Wilderness Adventures are three of the town’s biggest touring businesses you can choose from. The first two offer both jeep and ATV tours and rentals, while Bobcat Pass provides ATVs only. Whichever option you choose, tours tend to run between 2 and 4 hours, covering areas like Goose Lake and Greenie Peak while visiting ghost towns, gold mines and much more. Be sure to check with the company of your choice for more specific details about their routes: the varying difficulty levels available mean group types and preferences of all kinds can be accommodated! The guides also recommend you bring a camera: wildlife including elk, turkey and bison are commonly sighted!

No matter which provider you choose, a jeep or ATV expedition through Carson National Forest can easily become a memorable part of your next stay in Taos. Feel free to ask for more information about ATV adventures and other things to do in Taos, New Mexico while staying at Hotel la Fonda!

I enjoyed my brief stay at Hotel La Fonda de Taos and I will be returning. It is a beautiful historic hotel with all the modern conveniences. The location is great for walks around the plaza area and adjoining neighborhoods. The stay was very nice and the coffee shop was a great place for morning coffee and a croissant.
