10 Things to do on your Spring Fling in Taos

Spring in Taos is a great time to visit this colorful city! If you are planning a vacation during this beautiful time of year, then you are in luck. There are so many things to do in Taos that it is hard to narrow it down, but we did our best, so here are some activities that we think you will enjoy!

1.Taos Pueblo

As the city of Taos’ main attraction, Taos Pueblo is one that cannot be missed when planning your trip. With 99,000 acres of land, the entire pueblo is made of adobe material speckled with turquoise doors and windows. A picturesque church welcomes you as you enter the site with an ominous graveyard reminding you of who once occupied this magnificent structure. Note that they will be opening for the season on April 23rd.

2. Shopping in Taos Plaza

Take a day trip, just outside of Taos, to the village of Arroyo Seco. Take in the exquisite scenery around you, while taking a stroll through the village admiring art galleries and vibrant textiles and eating at some of the best restaurants this state has to offer.

7. Wild Rivers Recreation Area

Recently added to the Rio Grande Del Norte National Monument, Wild Rivers Recreation Area offers a plethora of hiking trails where two powerful rivers meet, the Rio Grande and Red River. If you are up for it, hike down into the gorge to view these mighty rivers up close and really appreciate Mother Nature at her best.

8. Kit Carson Home and Museum

Built in 1825, this house, now turned museum, was bought by Kit Carson himself as a gift to his wife. Over the years this home has been preserved for visitors to learn about Kit Carson and the historical times for which he made famous. This is a great museum for those looking to learn a little bit more about the history of New Mexico and Kit Carson himself, in a completely unique way.

9. Taos Spring Arts

Spring has sprung in Taos and that means it is time once again for the Taos Spring Arts event. Taos is known for its thriving and vibrant art community, so this is a great chance to see local artists come together and showcase at different events and happenings in the city. 10. Taos Lilac Festival

As purple lilacs begin to bloom all over the Taos Valley, everyone knows it’s time for the annual Lilac Festival.
