Here are some of our favorite spring activities in Taos.

Hiking and Biking Trails

Taos offers some of the best outdoor recreation spots in the Southwest. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a novice cyclist, there are plenty of trails to explore. One popular spot is Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, which is home to more than 16 miles of biking and hiking trails. The bridge spans 650 feet and offers spectacular views of the Rio Grande Valley below. If you’re looking for a challenge, try your hand at Wheeler Peak—the highest point in New Mexico!

Exploring Local Art Galleries

Taos is teeming with local art galleries featuring one-of-a-kind pieces from local and national artists. Be sure to stop by the Harwood Museum of Art, which houses an extensive collection of contemporary artwork from Taos Pueblo Indians and European American painters who moved to Taos during its heyday as an artist colony during the 1940s and 1950s. And don’t forget about Kit Carson Home & Museum—a historic building filled with artifacts from legendary frontiersman Kit Carson himself!

Enjoying Local Cuisine

There’s no better way to experience a culture than through its food. Luckily, Taos has plenty of delicious restaurants serving traditional Southwestern cuisine like tacos, enchiladas, and tamales—just be sure to save room for dessert! Or, if you prefer something more casual, check out one of Taos’ many food trucks scattered throughout town; they typically serve up Mexican classics like burritos and quesadillas. No matter your preference, you won’t go hungry in Taos!
