Taos’ culturally rich and diversified past stems from ancient hunter-gatherers leaving their mark with 6,000 year-old pictographs, a continuously inhabited 1,000 year old pueblo, the 400 year old Don Fernando de Taos (today’s Taos Plaza) settled by the Spanish, 200 years of mountain men and trappers and 100 years as an art colony. The result is a community steeped in stories, art, architecture and mysteries. Your journey through Taos history will begin with the “oldest hotel in Taos”.
