Hotel La Fonda de Taos Guest Reviews

"This is a charming hotel right on the square. It was an easy trip to the Taos ski mountain each morning from the hotel (though we did not experience any bad weather). Other reviewers indicated that they had some problem with noise, which frankly I was prepared for but really did not have any issue with. The couple of issues we did have were addressed immediately by the staff, who were most accommodating. I would stay again and recommend to others." - Trip Advisor Review

"My husband and I stayed at Hotel La Fonda De Taos last month and were delighted. We were immediately greeted by the owners and made to feel completely at home. The hotel is charming, conveniently located, and has been completely renovated. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and highly recommend this hotel. During your stay make sure you ask to be shown the D.H. Lawrence room to see the 'Forbidden Art' the owner accompanied us and regaled us with stories about the history of the hotel as well as the many fascinating characters associated with it."

"My wife and I did the New Mexico Fly Fishing package with the La Fonda Hotel and Los Rios Anglers (just around the corner from the hotel). We had a great time. The package included a full day of guided fishing from Los Rios (which we spent in the Valle Vidal). Our guide was great - offering my novice wife a lot of advice and patience (and giving me just enough instruction to correct my mistakes). We spent a full day on the water and never felt any pressure to return home. The people at Los Rios helped us get setup for a second day with some friends (renting gear at very reasonable rates). I would highly recommend these guys if you're in the area and interested in fishing.

The package also included massages (wonderful) and a dinner card for Joseph's Table (very, very good dinner). Our room overlooked the plaza so that we were able to watch the Thursday night music on the plaza from our window.

The standard package was for 2 nights - we added 2 more. The rooms aren't cheap, but with the package deal, the ideal spot on the plaza, and the great service, I was very satisfied with the value. We'll definitely do it again." - Houston, TX

"Very comfortable room with fireplace and balcony on third floor, overlooking the plaza. Very quiet. On the second floor is a reading area with fireplace and computer/internet access. Friendly staff. Free parking. Beautiful, cozy. Clean. Nicely appointed room. Flat screen TV. Would look forward to staying there again in the future." - Los Angeles. CA

"The La Fonda was great!! We drove up from Santa Fe and were greeted by a friendly staff. We were able to park by the front door and unloaded our luggage and settled into the room before moving our car to the rear of the hotel (free parking). We were told the hotel recently went through a multi-million dollar remodel and it shows. The room was clean and over looked the plaza. Bottled water (unlimited) was free, along with coffee at the hotel cafe. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Taos." - San Carlos, CA

"Hotel la Fonda de Taos is perfectly located on the Plaza in the historic center of Taos. You can walk to all the major sites and traffic (as opposed to the highway strip where most of the other hotels are located). Our room was a decent size and very comfortably furnished with a fully equipped bathroom and excellent shower. The hotel is quiet, with very nice common areas and a friendly staff. Parking is free and right behind the hotel. We would definitely recommend it." - Meredith, NH

"We took a road trip from Denver without any clue as to where we would stay in Taos. As we walked through the town we saw the Hotel La Fonda in the square and thought it looked nice enough -- old traditional style. But before making any decisions we decided to go have a drink and ask some of the locals for a good place to stay. Our bartender mentioned a few high-priced spas & a couple of bed & breakfasts but we wanted to stay in the middle of town. So we asked about the La Fonda and he gave it a thumbs up. So after a few Margaritas we got ourselves a fabulous room facing the plaza with a fireplace & a balcony. We were very pleased. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very cozy & clean. We would definitely stay there again!" - Denver, CO
